The Sarcoma Stomp

We are so proud to announce that the 2nd Annual Sarcoma Stomp was a huge success drawing just over 700 registrants and raising gross proceeds of $112,000! This would not have been possible without the volunteers, countless donors, sponsors, and of course our enthusiastic racers and walkers who came out that morning. We are incredibly grateful to you all for really making a difference for sarcoma research!

The second annual fundraiser for The Paula Takacs Foundation will be The Sarcoma Stomp 5K Run, 3K Fun Run/Walk, and Kids' Dash. Proceeds of this fundraiser will benefit Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the world’s oldest and largest cancer center. It will be held at the McAlpine Creek Greenway 5K course at 8711 Monroe Rd. in Charlotte, NC at 9:00 am. The 3K Fun Walk begins at 9:05 am; the Kids' Dash starts at 9:45 am. We hope that you will come out and "Go the distance" for Sarcoma Research! In 2011, over 500 were in attendance for the race, which ultimately raised nearly $100,000.

The USA Track & Field certified cross country course is best described as mostly flat with a hardpack/gravel surface, and is widely considered to be among the most scenic and fastest 5K courses in the Southeast!

Can't participate in the 5K Run or 3K Fun Walk but would still like to come out and support the event? Register now for the Cheering Crew and receive a Sarcoma Stomp 2012 tee shirt that you can wear while making some noise for the on-course participants!

5K Run and 3K Fun Walk participants may register as a team and show how far their group is committed to Going The Distance For A Cure! Special recognition will be made during the awards ceremony for the 5K Run and 3K Fun Walk teams with the most participants!

Kids aged 11 and under who register for the 5K Run or 3K Fun Walk may participate in the Kids' Dash at no additional charge. Just be sure to complete the earlier event and be ready to go for the 9:45am start.
